About the Round Barn Inn
The Round Barn Inn Bed & Breakfast building (the Swartz-Dunham Barn) was built in 1916 and used primarily for housing livestock. It was one of 226 round barns built in the state of Indiana and one of the few left standing. Most of these structures, due to neglect, have been destroyed. The Round Barn Inn Bed & Breakfast building is one of approximately 100 still standing.
The barn was converted into a house over a period of a decade beginning in the mid '80's. It is the only round barn anywhere that has been renovated into a house. The original barn was purchased in 1996 then it was transformed it into a bed and breakfast and opened up for business in the spring of 1997. The barn has just under 7000 square feet of living space and is furnished with a huge assortment of unique collectibles and hard-to-find antiques. A pool table and game table are available to guests as well as a library, reading loft w/TV and VCR, and a huge stone fireplace. Four comfortable rooms are available for lodging, each with it's own decorative theme; and each with a TV and air-conditioning. The Hayloft Suite features a Hot Tub. The Round Barn Inn Bed & Breakfast serves a hearty country breakfast each morning in the downstairs dining room. They make all guests feel at home in a relaxing rural atmosphere.
