Safe Surgeries and Anesthesia!
At Log Cabin Animal Hospital we are proud to offer
the
safest surgical
and anesthesia methods. Every anesthetized
pets have the following:
Before surgery
- A complete physical exam
- Presurgical blood screen
- Intravenous catheter and intravenous fluids
- Pain medication
- Preanesthetic injection
- Intubation: every patient is intubated with a breathing tube (endotracheal tube) in its wind pipe
During surgery
- Gas anesthesia (using a human anesthetic machine and gas)
- Heated surgery table (to prevent heat loss during surgery)
- Intravenous electrolyte infusion via IV pump (to maintain blood pressure)
- Placing a pain-patch on the patient at the end of the surgery (if needed).
Anesthesia monitoring
- Continous measuring of the blood oxygen saturation
- Continous measuring of the heart rate
- Continous measuring of the body temperature
- Periodic checking of heartrate via esophageal stethoscope
- Periodic checking of Capillary Refill Time
- EKG monitoring
- Blood pressure monitoring (coming)
Postsurgical monitoring
- We monitor all patients after all surgeries. Endotracheal tubes are removed only after patient is able to swallow.
- We also have and incubator / oxygen cage to aid the safer recovery.
- No patient is left alone until safe recovery.
Returning home after surgery
